About the Author | Dr. Londyn Lavallais

Dr. Londyn Lavallais' passion for teaching children to read was first exhibited at age five when she pretended she was teaching her stuffed animals. This inspired her to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Education, and Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Tennessee State University, and to earn her Doctorate in Education from Trevecca Nazarene University.

She lives in Nashville, with her husband and their two joyful, energetic children who both love to read! As a teacher for over 9 years, Dr. Lavallais saw the impact being able to read at a young age had on her students. She understood first hand the excitement African American children had when they saw themselves in the stories they read. She saw a need for Black boys to be portrayed in a positive light. She wrote this children’s book for her culture, to show Black boys what it looks like when limits, stereotypical norms, and barriers of all types are taken off of them!

She hopes that as you read this book with your children, they are encouraged to dream big, BOLD dreams and to let their imaginations SOAR.
